Funny Flashback Post

Last week at my 38 week appt. the dr. told me I was 3cm.  I was 3cm at 38.5 weeks with Sean, and still went a week over, so don't really know if it means anything.  With Max I was 2cm at 38 weeks and he was just 2 days over.  Anyway, while looking back on the blog I came across a post from when i was pregnant with Max and teaching 5th and 6th graders in an after school program, and the funny things they said to me about pregnancy.

a favorite:
Bryan: Ms. Emily, do you want a hot cheeto?
Ms. Emily: uh, no tha-
Hector: "NO NO Ms. Emily can't eat those because she's pregnant!"
Ms. Emily: Actually Hector, they are fine, they wouldn't hurt the baby
Hector: "Oh I know, but THE MILK! THE MILK!"

Sean is 18 months!

I can't believe it.  Where does the time go?  He is such a sweet little thing.  I went to nursery with him yesterday and was thinking about him being 2 and could hardly stand the thought.  He gets into so much trouble, and gets his brother into so much trouble too, haha.  He un-does all my cleaning from the night before within an hour of waking up but he is just such a funny little person and those blue sparkly eyes just get me every time. Some things I love about him:

- he will sometimes just pose for pictures even if the camera isn't out, he'll just sit on a step or somewhere and start saying "cheese" "cheeeeeese".

- if he gets an owie, he'll say, "ow! ow!" then come to me smacking his lips asking for a kiss, so I kiss his fingers or his cheek and he's all better and ready to play again.

- he loves "ring around the rosie" at bedtime we'll say, "ok, time to sing a song" and he'll say, "ashes!  ashes!"  he's also very good at saying the , "down!" part.

- He has just started to say, "thank you, mommy!" when I give him something, I have a little video of it.  He says and signs "please!" and then when I give him his snack, or toy or sippy or whatever, he says "Thank you mommy!" it is just to die for.  It is so great to hear your kids say thank you!  You know those middle of the night feedings during the first year when they look up and smile at you and you know that is what they are trying to say. . . and then when they finally say it, it's just a great mommy moment.

- He loves his brother, he loves to push him on his steer-n-stroll trike, he wants Max included in everything.  He will randomly hug him while playing and say, "huuug!".  He gets sad when Max runs off with the big kids. This is why I think it will be good for him to have a younger brother so soon.  I think he'll like not being the smallest all the time, and having someone who actually follows him around..

- He is good at hugs and kisses, he also adores his dad.  If we come home from something in the afternoon he will open the door and say, "daddy?  daddy?"  I have to remind him that daddy is not here but will come home later.  I love seeing them play and cuddle.

- We really don't watch Toy Story often but he knows all the characters and can say their names almost perfectly.  Buzz is his favorite, then Jessie, Woody, "sye" is Bullseye and then "oink oink" for Ham.

- He still loves Disney Cars.  Again, we really don't watch the movie that often but he loves his Holley Shiftwell and tells me that she is "purple".  For awhile he called Lightning McQueen, "Mean" but now he says "Lighting".  For Mater he calls him "Eeo"  it's pretty funny, Max will call him "Eeo" too just to be silly, "Sean, here is your Eeo!".

- He sings the best "E-I-E-I-O" you've ever heard, loves farm animals and is pretty good at their noises.

- He is all boy.  So active, has to get out of the house and run around at least twice every day.  He hangs on the bar above the slide saying, "monkey! monkey!"

- He can do the shape ball puzzle.  He can also tell me what things are "circles".

- He has long blonde hair that curls in the back, blue eyes, a round belly, 12 teeth, and a sweet smile.  He has long fingers and toes.

- He loves fruit, cheese and yogurt.  He will not drink milk!  He was great at nursing but cows milk has been a struggle.  He sleeps through the night well bedtime is 7pm, but is a bit of an early riser, usually up by 6am on the dot, 6:25ish is sleeping in.  Afternoon nap everyday.

- He knows what the temple is and along with that I can't believe how much he has picked up so quick about Christmas and the Nativity.  We have a little Nativity in front of our temple and he overheard me say "temple" to his Aunt tonight and looked at me and started naming all the nativity, "baa baa!, moo!, baby!  donkey!".  He also heard me say "Joseph" talking about a neighbor and started doing the same thing.  I tried to explain to him that the Christmas tree and ornaments are "special" and now he points and says, "peh-shell".
I love you Sean.  You are still the baby in the family for a short while longer.  I love all your baby-ness that is left but love seeing the independence growing and watching you learn.   I love being your mom, I love feeding you and dressing you and bathing you.  You are such a sweet piece of sunshine in my life!  You are still so little but are going to be a great big brother.

November 2012

We were SO happy when Aunt Annie called and said she was coming to visit!  She got to come down here for her job for a couple days, she only had a few obligations and then hung out with us!  We went to Cafe Rio the first night, and then hit Balboa for sunset dinner at Ruby's on the Pier the next.

33 weeks I think, I'm now 36.

Max loves her Iphone.  He probaby can work those things better than me!

What a great Auntie, bathing the kids, even washing their hair!

This month we sold my college car, the Honda Civic.  If you knew me in college you probably remember it.  It has been a great car, and commuted me to Salt Lake for two years in the ice and snow with no accident and no tickets!  It's new owners are basically the coolest people we know, it's in good hands!

I don't even remember taking this!  He can be cute and pose for pictures sometimes.

The boys love to play on our bed, what kids don't like mom and dad's bed?

Took the camera out while we walked to the playground one day to snap some photos of the pretty leaves in  my neighborhood.

Our neighbors cute wagon that the kids love.

I just love his curls, can't bring myself to snip them.

Thanksgiving was at the White's, I made these little place card turkeys.

Sean just stayed on the stairs after the family picture saying, "cheese!  cheese!"

Auntie Meridith

Max was especially excited for Thanksgiving because the Sunday before Grandpa told him they were going to go camping Thanksgiving night.  I think a couple tears were shed during the week because Max was so excited to "go to camping" and was getting very anxious.  He was so excited as we packed his backpack.

Just before hitting the campground, Sean is sad because he wanted to hold Max's had for the picture, but Max wanted to hold Grandpa's and Daddy's had because they were the ones who were "going to camping" with him.

we made this little "Thanksgiving Tree" with sticks we found outside and leaves I found here.  Our leaves said we were thankful for; healthy kids, pirate toys, milk, soccer, apt. with no stairs, music, parents, cereal, wife, church, Max, naps, kids, racecars, husband who does the dishes :)

The day after Thanksgiving we walked over to Mason Park, a beautiful park that's just far away enough for a good walk.  It has great playgrounds, ducks, geese, ponds and bridges.

Max

Max is 3 years and 9 months old.  He is 39" tall and weighs 37lbs.

He loves to play with his Batman and Cars 2 toys.  He loves to play outside, he rides his own trike to the playground but then hops on this retro radio flyer trike that belongs to his friend Gordon.  He likes to "ride so fast!".  Sometimes Sean will hop on the back and Max will be patient and go slow for Sean for a little bit.  Max is adored by his little brother.  Sean calls out his name "Max!" when he gets too far away when we are outside.  Today at the playground I had oranges and got them out for Sean, but he yelled to Max, "Max, orange!" so he didn't miss out.  When we tell Sean it's time for a bath Sean says, "Max, bath!" to make sure Max is coming too.  Max is a great brother, he gets me Sean's diapers and shoes when I ask him.  Max loves to eat mayonnaise and mustard sandwiches for lunch, yep, that's all he wants on his bread and he eats the whole thing!  He likes apples and peanut butter too, also a bite or two of cheese and MILK!  He absolutely loves his milk.
He likes to talk about Astronauts and Space lately.  He asks me, "mom, when are we going to go to space?"  Like it's a normal thing, like going to the park.  I tell him maybe when he grows up he can be an astronaut.  He totally gets that there is a new baby coming and that the baby is in my "big" tummy.  He tells me, "mom, the new baby is going to come out and break your shirt!".  He knows Grandma will take him to the doctor to see me and the baby in the little bed.  He still remembers when Sean was born and he got to sit in the bed with me and drink chocolate milk and eat cookies.  We drive by the hospital frequently and he tells me that's where we got Sean.  He especially remembers baby Sean in the little bed.  He always tells me the baby is going to be a sister but I have to remind him it will be another boy, a brother.  He wants to name the baby "Kristy" regardless.  I don't know where he got that from, except that it is his friend's mom's name.  He tells me there is a baby in his tummy too, and then laughs because he knows he's being silly.  He says, "I was a baby in your tummy too!", and I tell him yes, he was the first baby in my tummy and about how when came out and he was SO cute.  He likes to tell me who is a boy in our house and who is a girl and what things are for boys and what things are for girls.

He is a happy little guy, he is still little but is getting so smart and big.  He has so much energy, like boys do.  I need a little treadmill in my house, or a yard with a track where I could just send him out to run!  I love the moments we have reading together or playing a game together, just one on one.  Every night I kiss him when I tuck him in and he makes sure he kisses me too.  He is also great at giving hugs.   I love my Max!

October catch up

Max got to go to Disneyland with just Daddy

on the Ferry to Balboa . . . I was feeling ambitious and took the boys to the beach, taking advantage of the warm October mornings.

Yum, sandy crackers.

Typical, Sean can swing for a little bit, but Max has never liked the swing for more than one minute . . .

Our community Welcome Day had a big blow up slide, Max couldn't get enough.

another from Welcome Day.

Sean's favorite ride

Disneyland was decorated for Halloween and Max wanted a pic of this Woody pumpkin.

Halloween night we trick or treated in Grandma and Grandpa's neighborhood.

how cute is this lady?  Max was perfect at saying "Trick or Treat".  Sean just demanded, "TREAT!"
