So They Think I Can Dance. . .

Well, as you can guess I'm a huge "So You Think You Can Dance" fan. It's been on Fox the past three summers and I have just eaten up every minute of it. It's especially cool because I've had small "connections" to some of the people who have competed on the show, like Jaymz Tualieva of the 2nd season took Funk with me for two years and Allison Holker of the 2nd season is also from Utah and takes class at my cousin's studio. Just little things here and there. . . anyway, Utah is full of so much talent as far as dance goes, dance is really valued here. There are so many studios as well as a dance programs in almost every High School and some Jr. Highs (like the one I'm at). This is very uncommon for a state. Season 3's winner, Sabra, was from Roy UT and now this year they are coming to Salt Lake for auditions! Pretty cool! When I heard the announcement I thought, "Sweet! I'll probably see some people I know or have danced with trying out on TV!" Well, some of my students have seen that they're coming here and have been like, "Mrs. White!! You have to audition! We want to see you on TV, blah blah. . ." Now, this is VERY flattering, but come on now:

a. Even in my prime I was never as good a leaper or turner as the contestants on that show, or had those amazing abs for that matter. . .
b. I'm out of shape, yes I teach, but my fellow dancers can say that teaching does not keep you in as good of shape as taking class.
c. The performing chapter in my life has closed, I'm a married woman and have other priorities.
d. Have you seen the costumes they put on those girls? Um, yeah.

So, I really don't dream of things like that anymore. What I do dream of, however, is being a JUDGE or CHOREOGRAPHER on that show. I would love to put in my two cents about the contestants and have dancers with that kind of skill and passion to work with in choreography, maybe someday!

Just thought I'd say what I was thinking about today because I don't have any new pics to post!

CHRISTMAS Festivities!

Here are some photos of things we did to celebrate the holiday. The Wright Family Christmas Party, my dad's side, was held the Sunday before Christmas at my parents house, here is my sister Anne, Cousin Sean, Aunt Marcia, Cousin Adam and Cousin Michael.
The week before Christmas we had a Christmas family home evening with my family, here is my nephew Charles and my sister Becky playing their violins. Charles is only 5!
Christmas Eve! Charles, Julia, Audrey and Grandma Savage. Ever since I was a little girl we've been making these, they are called Stained Glass Cookies.
Jared and Charles, dressed up as wisemen for the Nativity my family always does, I don't know quite what they are doing here, Jared was trying to teach Charles Portuguese
Getting ready for the nativity, I was an Angel
Julia, who is also only 5, was the harp playing angel.
Julia, my bro-in-law Joe and little Eliza, I had to include this one because I think Eliza's cheeks are adorable!
We spent Christmas Eve night sleeping over at my brother Joel's house with his family. Jared read Charles and Warren a Christmas Book
Christmas morning! Charles got a new bouncy horse that even says "neigh"! From what I heard it took Santa Clause all night to put it together.
Getting ready to open presents, yes, I know I'm a glamor queen in the morning
Audrey looking at my Grandma Savages new Music Box
A gingerbread house I made, I have all my decorations down now except for this because I can't bring myself to just dump it in the trash.
At my Grandma Savage's house for Christmas Dinner! We're both wearing new sweaters that my mom gave us!
The girls!
For new years we went to CA to see the White's. On New Years Eve day Meri and I were upstairs watching movies and I saw Jared chopping up the tree for his mom out side the window. I snuck a couple pictures without him knowing b/c I thought he looked cute out there!
The beautiful California sunset just before leaving to go to the air port. We're wearing new hoodies that we gave each other! It was a great Christmas break, we got to spend time with both of our families and with each other.

Granite Park Winter Dance Concert!

ok so I know I've been slacking but you know, the holidays and such, i didn't find the time to sit down an d blog, but i promise to be better. And better yet I promise to check all of YOUR blogs more often so don't worry, I haven't gone too far. Here are some pictures from my show last month, it was a success! I was , of course, stressed to the max, but hey, it all worked out, and in the end we all had a lot of fun. I'm still having nightmares where everything goes wrong. . . but i think those will fade, just in time for the Spring Concert in April! Ha ha! Enjoy, these are actually the day after the show in costumes, but i should get some up from during the show as well.Advanced Dancers in random costumes.
We did a dance in the dark with candles to "Bring a Torch"
Me with my officers, we're missing Jacey who moved the day after the show, see previous post.
All the flowers in my house the day after the show! Thanks mom and Jared and everyone!
One of my classes, minus about 5 people who got suspended the night of the show, two for fighting, three for hugging, but we got by with out them.
I don't understand the cultural thing where people don't smile in pictures.
